Yukos Case May Affect U.S. Minority Shareholders — Ambassador

The interests of minority shareholders of the Yukos oil company may be affected by a court decision in the company’s legal case, U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Alexander Vershbow, said on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Gazeta.Ru website he said the Yukos affair had raised several questions in the United States regarding the authority of the law in Russia. He added, however, that it is very complicated to comment on the situation at Yukos now.

Vershbow expressed hope that the court decision would be fair, in particular concerning U.S. shareholders.
